How to resolve dropping wifi connection of your laptop : Many times you may found that your laptops wifi connection dropping and reconnects again.

There may be no steady repeated behavior for this but it is very frustrating , may be you have thought that there is problem of your wifi adapter  or inside your laptop.

But before consulting your service centre or any hardware technician please try following settings may be these can resolve your problem. I have solved my dropping wifi issues by using these settings.

Note: It is strongly recommended that your adapter and wireless router software be up to date.

  • Set your wireless router to use channel bonding (40 MHz).
Implementing channel bonding on the wireless router will allow the router to use 2 channels at the same time. Channel bonding is also known as mixed mode.
  • The following adapter settings can be found under the Advanced menu on Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software. Your settings should match the values below. These are the default settings for Intel Wireless Adapters supporting 802.11n.
802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4Auto (not in 20 MHz only)
802.11n Channel Width for band 5.2Auto (not in 20 MHz only)
802.11n ModeEnabled
Fat Channel IntolerantDisabled
Roaming AggressivenessMedium (or less)
Throughput EnhancementDisabled
Transmit PowerHighest
Wireless Mode802.11a/b/g

  • On the wireless router check the following options:
Auto Channel ScanEnable
802.11 Modeuse 802.11 only
Channel Width40MHz

NoteWEP and WPA-TKIP are not compatible with 802.11n.

Also in power option of your laptop do the wire less adapter setting on maximum performance.
