How to download Google Map offline
Google map navigation is nowadays must have app for most of all mobile users. You can easily navigate in new places using Google Maps. We will see in this post how to download Google Map offline for offline navigation.
Google map navigation is best navigation app compares to other navigation apps due its features and functions. In Google map during navigation you can view live traffic details, suggestion for faster route, Lane changing guidance. Now it also showing your vehicle speed on the map along with speed camera warning if available in certain countries.
Google maps requires working internet connection during navigation to update the route, route change alarm, live traffic view and lane changing guidance. But if you want to use Google map in offline mode to save data this feature is also available in Google navigation.
How to navigate offline in Google map
To enable offline navigation, you have first download offline maps of your selected area. The file size of offline map will be larger if you have chosen broader area. If you have chosen smaller are to download offline the size of download file will also be smaller.
For example, if you downloaded the Delhi NCR map in offline, the size could be around 300MB. This map could be downloaded when you are connected on Wi-Fi network to save data of your network.
How to download Google Map offline
For downloading offline maps, first tap over three lines for menu in left side in the Google map app. Thereafter tap over offline maps, now tap over select you own map. This will open a square box shown in maps, you can slide the are you want to download offline under this square box.
Zoom in or Zoom to select as much area you want. We have selected the total Delhi NCR area in the snap shot given below.
Now tap over to start download, after maps fully downloaded it will be shown in your Offline maps.
You can also rename this map as per your requirement, by touching over three dots right side of map you will see option to update, view, rename and delete.
If you do not update the map will expire after one year.
Now you can navigate offline as like earlier, this offline map will show you places in the search, typical route guidance. But no suggestion to change route as per traffic because there is no live traffic available in offline.
