How to sign in into Public Wifi if login page failed to load- Resolved
Recently I have come across this issue in my OnePlus 5T, when I have tried to connect my office wifi. After connecting the network when I have tap over sign in option ”
http://connectivitycheck.gstatic.com page trying to redirect user authentication page but not success.
I have searched many forums on Google, also talked to OnePlus customer care, they explain may steps like reset network settings, reset cache etc. but nothing worked. I was thinking this was only with me because in other users mobile this page loads easily. But soon some more users reported the same issue.
Following steps I have tries you can also try these to work for you, this may be happened that the authentication page has some certificate issue. For security reason Android not allowed to load that page:
- You can try open directly any browser like Google Chrome or any other to see that wifi login page loads.
- On the Wifi icon long press, you will find settings of wifi, scroll down to see gateway IP. Now copy or note down this IP address. Open Chrome browser and type the IP to see if this loads the wifi login page.
- Ask your IT administrator or any other user the exact address of wifi login page. Type the same into browser address bar.
The Solution that worked in OnePlus 5T
I have tried above all mentioned options but none were worked. The following option worked for me you may also try the same, how to sign in into Public Wifi if login page failed to load.
Install Opera Mini browser using Google Play Store using 4G data or any other wifi network. Now turn off your mobile data using status bar icon. Tap over Public wifi network you want to connect. Now open Opera Mini browser, it will show you security warning. As the network you already trusted (for known network e.g. your office wifi) tap over continue. Now wifi login page redirected and opened. Also you can try to type the gateway IP address in Opera Mini browser directly in address bar.
