Some routers having print server features e.g. we are having one D-Link router 2750U that is having one USB port for internet connectivity using 3G – Dongle (earlier widely used, now WiFi dongle has come in to the picture). To configure connect router using Ethernet cable to its port-1 and second end to your computer (Desktop/Laptop). Now open any browser and type 192.168.1.1 in address bar, when user authentication page come type admin/admin (default user Id and password for router).
Insert the USB cable of your printer into USB port of router and powered on the printer. Now go to the Advanced tab of router, than go to Network tools>printer, enable printer here. If your printer’s driver available with router’s databases it will automatically pick up the details. For example we are having HP Deskjet 2050 printer which was available in this D-Link router database. Now copy the URL showing in this page.
To add printer in Laptop follow these steps
Unplug Ethernet cable from Laptop. Go to control panel and search for add printer, or search printer in Cortana search box. Now click on the add printer + sign, after some time you will see that “The printer that I want isn’t listed”. Click on this message now add printer dialog box will open, click over “select a shared printer by name” and paste the URL that pas copied through D-Link router and connect, you are done.
