How to setup 2 step verification for Gmail
In this article we will show you, how to setup 2 step verification for Gmail using mobile text sms. Today hacking and phishing become a serious problem for online users of net banking and even for Facebook and Gmail users. Accounts of facebook and gmail users are also becoming victim of hacking continuously.
As now most of people in the world using Gmail account for their personal and official email purpose. Also nowadays all of our important information either it is our credit card/ banking information or office related information are saved on our emails that’s why we have to ensure security of our email account.
For the solution of this Gmail recently introduce the 2-step verification service that required a security code (sent to your mobile thru sms) to enable you login on your account as like your net-banking account.
After enabling this 2-step verification when you login on any computer either your office, home or any other places e.g. cyber café, hotel etc. A verification sms code will be sent by Google on your registered mobile number after typing that you can get access to your account. Also at the time of login a check box will be there asking you to allow that computer to remember for 30 days. You can check this option at your own laptop or your office trust worthy desktop, so that you will never asked your sms verification for further 30 days.
But when if somebody tries to login into your account from any other location by hacking or stealing your login information he will not succeeded without this due to this 2-step verification.
How to setup 2 step verification gmail , take a look
First login into your account then click on your name at right top, this will show you some options then click on account settings (1) . Now this will take to your settings page, now click on 2-step verification edit (3) option see below picture:
Now again you will be asked your password, now after typing password a new window will open , see the picture below now type your mobile no.(4) and click on send verification code (5) now a sms will be sent to your mobile , type this code to the filed for verification and click on verify(6) and you have done .
How to login into your Gmail Account using 2 step verification setup in gmail
Now next time when you login on your account a verification password will be sent to your mobile, without that pass code you cannot login your account. Also remember to note another recovery options in some secret place e.g. secondary email and your security question.
besides this I will tell you one important things that no one will tell you , If you have forgot to log out your account in your office or any other place and you are in fear that anybody can access your account then follow these instructions:
Scroll down your inbox or setting page where at right bottom you will found last account activity details (7) (see the picture below) :
now click on details then a popup will open showing your last login details(IP address and location). Now click on sign out all other sessions (8) and you have done. This will log out all your accounts that are logged on various locations and not logged out.
For further security of your all email and other accounts I will suggest you to use Firefox browser with master password enable. And always remember to log out and close your browser window when you leave your work place so that nobody can access your emails without your master password of Firefox , even you have remembered them in your browser.
