In this post we will see how to turn off notifications in Chrome , Firefox , Microsoft Edge browsers. You may have noticed that you are getting annoying popup notifications from many websites without your consent.
This has happened as you have allowed some website to send you notifications accidentally. Nowadays most of website having this feature to send to you pop notification for updated posts, news, article, blogs post etc.
When you open a website, it will open a pop-up dialogue like this shown below and asking your permission for allow notifications. When you click over allow, this website will start to send you notifications when your browser is open and even you are working on different website.
While some of the notifications are useful e.g. new mail arrival message for Gmail, breaking news stories, new product launches etc. But some website notification may be not relevant to you and can also make you uncomfortable. Suppose a situation when you are in meeting or in a presentation and suddenly some movie trailer pop- up.
You can disable these notifications by following simple steps.
How to turn off notifications in Chrome Browser
In Google Chrome, go to settings, now go to Advanced settings tab. In the “privacy and security” settings, click over site settings, now click on notification.
Here you will found the list of website for which notifications are allowed and blocked
Check your allowed site here, now disable these sites which you don’t like to send you notifications. Now from the three dots you can block, edit and remove website as per your requirement.

How to turn off notifications in Firefox Browser
For the Firefox browser the settings are little different, here setting tab renamed as Option tab.
Go to options in Firefox, now click over Privacy and Security tab. When you scroll down, you will see permissions section.
Now in notification settings, you can allow, block and remove website for which notifications are not desired.

How to block notifications in Microsoft Edge Browser
To disable notifications on Edge browser follow the following steps:
First click over settings by clicking three dots in Edge browser, go to advance settings. Now click over manage permissions. From here you can delete the website for which notifications are enabled to show you as pop up.
How to turn off notifications in Chrome browser in Android
In Android also you can turn off notifications in the same way as desktop. Tap over three dots for menu, now tap over settings, in the settings you will found directly “Notifications”. From here you turn off notifications for one website or even turn off notification for all sites.
