Honor View 20 launched in India in the last week of January 2019 at price starting Rs. 37,999 at Amazon. Honor View 20 also known as Honor V20 is a successor of Honor V10 that was popular last year due to its elegant looks, specifications, camera and price. Honor is a subsidiary company of Huawei that is now going popular after Xiaomi, OnePlus due to its Good Specifications in mid and budget range of phones. Honor V20 Display
Honor V20 come with Hole Punch display, where selfie camera put on the display itself at left top corner. There is no dewdrop or water drop notch in the display, which is now common in many mid-range and high range phones. Due this punch hole display, Honor V10 managed to use full display properly and managed to get 6.4 inch display size with the dimension smaller than some same screen size phones.
V20 display is LCD and not AMOLED as in OnePlus 6T and Galaxy S9+ phones. Display is bright and excellent viewing angles but not as vibrant and color rich as of OLED displays. Resolution of display is 1080 x 2310 with 398 ppi density.
Honor V20 Camera
Honor V 20 Camera is also its USP, front selfie camera is a 25 MP camera with aperture f/2.0. Selfie camera is also capable to record video in 1080p. This camera supports many modes like slow motion video recording, night scene, AI photo with many photo frames. The selfie camera is a fixed focus camera.
Rear main camera of Honor View 20 is a 48MP camera with Sony IMX 586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture is one of the first in market. The rear camera is coupled with 3D ToF (Time of Flight) sensor that capable to shoot pictures and videos with 3D capabilities. The objects can be made slimmer in the videos using this feature. This is also has features to make 3D avatars of persons.
Actually, by default Honor view 20 shoots the images in 12MP that combines four pixels into one pixel. That helps to take images in low light environment for better image details. The 3D camera provides you better depth effect on the images.
Honor V20 V- shaped texture on the back
Honor V20 has one unique V shaped texture that glows when light reflects on its back glass panel. That makes its design very beautiful and eye catching. However, if we use any pack panel or cover on this phone for protection it may be hidden.
Honor V20 Performance and Storage
V20 came with its own Kirin 980 processor (7 nm) with NPU. Kirin 980 is first dual NPU processor. It is an Octa core processor with combination of two 2.6 GHz Cortex A76, two 1.92 GHz Cortex A76 and four 1.8GHz Cortex A55 chips. V20 has two variant one is 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage and another variant come with 6GM RAM and 128GB internal storage.
6/128 GB version is available on Amazon India at price of Rs. 37,999. 8/256 GB version is currently not available on Amazon India that launched at price Rs. 45,999. Honor View 20 also available at honor’s store.
This combination of RAM and processor make a very snappy experience to users for app launching and to play heavy games. Multiple opening of apps not slows down the mobile.
The Geekbench single core and multi core scores for Kirin 980 are better than average single core and multi core scores of the Snapdragon 845.
For the graphics Honor V20 has Mali G76 MP 10 GPU which is a upgraded version of GPU Turbo 2.0. The overall efficiency of GPU graphics is improved.
V20 Software and Features
V20 Android OS is based on Android 9.0 pie with custom Magic UI 2.0 skin; this magic skin is slightly different from Honor EMUI (Emotion UI) skin. Users those are fond of stock Android 9.0, will miss the stock interface of Android. However, clean and smooth performance of Magic UI not giving any lag or clutter while operating the phone in various modes and applications.
Magic UI supports wireless printing and file sharing with the PCs those are on the same wireless network. Magic UI also supports gestures to navigate between home, back and recent apps, so that full screen can be used for viewing. Further UI also support a black strip on the top so that you can hide punch hole, if don’t like on display, this can also be customize on per app wise.
Other Features of Honor V20
Honor V20 has managed to bring full display screen without bezel, the phone earpiece and ambient light sensor and notification light has been put on the area just above the display.
On top side of phone, you will see noise cancellation mic, 3.5 mm headphone jack and IR blaster. Right side volume rocker and power button placed. At left side sim tray are available to hold dual 4G sim. Bottom there is phone speaker and USB type-C phone charging port.
V20 is a dual 4G phones where both sim can be configure to work on 4G simultaneously. There is no microSD card slot for extra storage; 128/256GB is ample for storage. V20 come with 4000mAH battery with Huawei super charge functionality to charge phone 0 to 59% in half hour and 94% in one hour. Phone Box included 22.5-watt adapter. Battery of phone lasts whole day without any problem and can last more if use moderately.
