How to install hindi fonts for pc
In this post we will tell you how to download and install Hindi fonts for PC in Windows 10.
To type and view Hindi characters and words in Windows 10 PC, you need to install first Hindi fonts in PC or laptop. Even without fonts installed in PC you can not view PDF document in Hindi and also may face issues to view Hindi words in web browsers.
Hindi Fonts are characterised in two types one in legacy fonts and other is Unicode fonts.

Legacy Hindi Fonts for PC
Legacy fonts are used in Hindi typing such as Krutidev, Chanakya, Devlys, Krishna etc. To check that a font is Legacy double click over the font file that is in .ttf format (True Type Font). If the preview showing Hindi characters than this is a legacy font.
Legacy fonts are used in traditional keyboard typing like earlier done using type writers. Hindi characters are marked on the keyboard keys, when those keys stroke are made particular Hindi characters will be typed.
This typing is required too much skill and in various government services such as SSC, CRPF, CISF and carious stenographer posts recruitment, this traditional hindi typing skill is required.
Unicode Hindi Fonts for PC
If you double click on Unicode font it will show the English characters. These fonts are used in online typing and typing with some input tools such as Google Hindi Input and Microsoft Indic Input tool for Windows.

As official Google Hindi Input tools are not supported now for windows. You can check various options and downloading Google Hindi Input and MS Indic Input Tool from here.
When you press some keys in English it will change in Hindi automatically for example “preshan” will convert to “प्रेषण” , “aajkal” will convert to “आजकल” etc.
For the normal users this types of keyboard and input tools are easier to type on social media such as Facebook, Websites, and MS Word, Power Point also.
How to Download Hindi Fonts for Windows 10 PC
You can download the following zip file of Hindi fonts from here.
This file consists many popular Hindi fonts such as Mangal, Aprajita, Kokila, Utsahi, Arjun, etc. These fonts are provided Microsoft as Hindi language pack as free.
After downloading unzip the folder into your PC. For installing the Hindi fonts into your PC you can choose any of the following steps:
Step-1
- Drag and drop the font files into the add font tab under settings, see the screen shot below
Step-2
- Copy and paste font files (.ttf) into the Font folder in control panel. “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Fonts”.
- This can be reached by just searching font in control panel, or by changing view by category to small/large icons.
Step-3
- You can also install all the font by selecting all files and by right click and “install for all users”
